Sparrow's first Christmas, Yanchep, 2009
Christmas-y stuff!

Back to index

This tree is just covered in fascinating things the right size to pull off, thump on the floor, poke at and chew. It was probably just as well that she wasn't quite mobile enough to be able to get to most of the things she wanted -grin-. Of course, that didn't entirely please Herself.

But it did make supervising her mischief reasonably relaxed and casual on these hot days. The book on the table is a pop-up Christmas carols book that Sparrow didn't mind having someone help her look through, though it was still a little beyond her at this stage.

In her little Christmas suit with the embroidered L on the front - perfect timing that it fit at this point. I wasn't sure it would, or if we'd have a day cool enough to try it. But we did, and she looked quite cute by the Advent candle wreath.

Still cute.

Oh wait, there's that wreath again. All those things look so interesting to pick up and touch. Now, how do I get it?

Maggie found these reindeer suits on special the same day I found the fairy dress. Sparrow looks a bit like she's wearing it under duress even in her sleep. But it is awfully cute.

Wandering around on the tiles in the reindeer suit. It's not immediately obvious, but she's stuck. That's the problem when you only have a backwards gear.

You can see her difficulty more clearly now. She's not upset yet, just a little puzzled that she seems to have stopped moving. I don't know if it's common for reindeers to get stuck under chairs. That may just be our special Christmas treat.

Fairy dress back on again, because it was amusing us. I had a better photo of her in this group, but I chose this one because it really shows how happy James is. He loves being a dad, and spending time with his daughter. It's been nice to bring that magic into his life and see how well it suits him.

There, this one shows off our little fairy to her best advantage. It also shows how keen she is to eat the skirt and suck on the glitter. We kept finding glitter on her for several days afterwards, it didn't brush or wash off. Glittery poo is also a rather interesting Christmas feature event, almost as if even her nappies were getting dressed up on the inside.

You might notice that she's in fact wearing *both* her Christmas costumes at one time here - that's the reindeer suit underneath.

Presents, surrounded by wrapping paper and the general Christmas detritus. Sparrow received this rubber duck and was promptly delighted.
