Oma and Grandad come to visit, 7-12 May, 2010

On to part 2 - Back to index

I'm so glad to see you again! We went to meet Oma and Grandad at their friend Glenys' house in Greenvale. It's a big house, with a really big mirror! I also thought the dog was cute, though she got a bit jealous of me and wanted as many cuddles as I got. And I got lots of cuddles!

Four Gwinnetts together.

This grandparent thing is a riot! I'm having a great time. They are too.

This is my first babycino. I like them a lot, they're lots of milk froth and the cafe downstairs even puts a little chocolate in it. Oma and Grandad like going to a cafe for a cappucino and I got to go with them while my mum and dad got my birthday party ready. (Mum and Dad were very happy to have a couple of hours to peacefully clean up and make food :-)

Thank you Aunty Joanna and cousin Mimi and Uncle Hans for my birthday present, which I got given a little early before the party started. Though I didn't really get the idea of taking it out of the bag, I had to be helped with that. It was all a bit strange.

Today's my actual birthday. Look, there's something in this box. I can sometimes get lids off by myself, too, once I realise there's something inside that I might want.

It's a little sparrow trinket box. Just the perfect size to go straight in my mouth. (My mother thinks I'll like it even more when I get just a little older.) There's something inside it, too.

It's this little silver charm bracelet. Daddy and Oma worked hard to get it on me, and then I managed to get it off a bit later. But I can wear it on high days and holidays.

We're off for an adventure today. I'm snuggled up on Dad's back now, but I'm not leaving my rattle behind.

It's the Queen Victoria Markets. Huh. Busy.

Grandad is inside this stall buying himself a jumper and haggling the price down.

My grandparents both want to buy me things too. Grandad got a dragon bear for Mum that I can share with her, and Oma bought me these little babushka dolls like the ones she played with when she was little in the Ukraine and Germany. She says these ones have faces like the Russian women she knew then.

Going for a little explore-and-roar while the grownups finish their cups of tea.

Time to try on clothes??!!! I'm out of here. You got the jumper on me, but I'll never surrender!

Never surrender!

And definitely No Hats.

(These are all clothes that Oma knitted (except for the Eagles socks), and they fit very well. Much better than the other pants that Mum hadn't realised I'd outgrown. I'm still a teensy bit short for my age, so I'll be able to wear all my new gear for all of winter. Thank you, Oma!)

Grandad asked if there was anything at our house we needed fixing. So Mum has him working on a project I don't know about yet, and we had to go to Bunnings to get some rope.

A swing! My grandma brought this over in April but I didn't know about it. It still needed to be hung up. Now I can swing in the garden and look at the apple trees while Mum hangs out the clothes.

Thank you, Grandad!
