Pesto chicken, plus sweet corn and sweet potato. Sparrow did a fair job of holding the drumstick but decided she didn't like pesto chicken that much (so James and I had to eat it all, what a shame). I thought she'd eat more of the corn, too - she was asking for "maiz" regularly, but apparently it's not as nice when it's cooked, she'd rather eat it raw.

Striding out to the playground at Newport Lakes.

What's wrong with the way I'm dressed?

Eating out at Taco Bill, and using her own fork.

At the obstetrician's. Something about this photo composition is quite Japanese.

The playground in South Kingsville.

Time to buy a new car seat. While Sparrow still fit hers well enough, she would need a new one in the next couple of years. And we'd need one for the new baby fairly soon. So we decided to use her current one for the newborn (as it does birth to four years) and get Sparrow one that would last her until she no longer needed car seats. I spent some time researching online, identified this particular type (sold by Big W), confirmed on the Big W website that the Highpoint store had some in stock, then we went in and tried it out. Sparrow gave it the tick of approval ("Chair!"), and ten minutes later we had a new car seat.

Dinner - one of Daddy's curries. She's come to quite like them, though she has moments where she prefers this or that bit. James generally supervises her dinner now if he's home, though I'm under standing orders to make and eat dinner before he gets home from work so that *I* don't get cranky. Sparrow prefers the earlier dinnertime too. I really must get a mat for under this chair - she does like to spread stuff around a bit when she's "all done".

Play with Daddy is much fun.

In the car after daycare - Sparrow's hopped into the car and made straight for the driver's seat, which has many more interesting buttons than her seat does. I thought I was quite clever getting this photo with her face in it.

We bought some fruit at the Arabic grocery, then walked across the road and Sparrow quite firmly requested to sit down and eat an apple. So she has an apple all to herself, and we're sitting between the petrol pumps at the little mechanic/service station place (which is closed, it being Sunday).

Playing with some of her "ladies" from the figurine set. I got some down for her at her request, and put them on the table. She's happily taking them off the table, looking at them and putting them back again (at least mostly, there's a bit of error in the putting back). I'm not sure when she started being able to reach things on this table so easily. I used to be able to put things here and have them out of reach. Now anything on the table is just more interesting.

Random puddle moment. Giant puddles are awesome. And magnetic.

Sparrow spent a lot of this month chewing on her fingers. That wasn't a surprise, we knew she had two teeth coming through on the bottom - the ones that appear in the gap. What *was* a surprise was that when we looked more closely it wasn't two teeth coming through, it was four. Her lower two molars were coming through as well, and not just coming but all the way through by the time we realised. They aren't supposed to come until after two years old, but I didn't mind them coming early. We got this one run of sleepless nights which seemed pretty solid because of all the teeth at once, and that's one run we weren't going to have after the new baby was born. So after this month she only had two teeth to go, and I was hoping they might arrive soon too so it'd all be over. They didn't though, they came in during her 25th month as officially scheduled.

Playground run - and we found ourselves at the old school, on the oval. Sparrow was a bit concerned by this because to get here we walked the "wrong" way, but she did enjoy running on the grass and up and down this mound that she's on.

Sparrow thinks puppies are exciting. Though she has come to prefer looking at the fish tanks in this pet shop. I suspect we will be getting her a fish tank at some stage. Maybe the next time we live in the same state as either Brian or George, my favourite fish nerds.

I'd been sorting stuff on my shelves in the bedroom and getting them back in order (nesting, me? :-). One of the things that came out were the two boxes of hairdo odds-and-ends, plus all the stuff that was supposed to be in the boxes but had gotten left out. I put it all back in the boxes and gave them to Sparrow to play with. She loved the variety of interesting objects, and getting them in and out of the boxes. Mostly out of.

"Nine!" she yelled, very loudly. Close, Spud, close. She's learning her numbers at the moment, not so much because I wanted to teach her but it's just kind of happened. In both English and German, and she can say quite a few of them in either. The headband is mine, she decided she was wearing it and it stayed on long enough to get out the door with her.
